Taking a road trip through Big Sur is one of the most iconic and jaw-dropping road trips in America. Each twist and turn will be more beautiful than the last, and you’ll wonder how somewhere this beautiful actually exists. It is an easy day trip from the Bay Area, and can be a great weekend getaway from Southern California as well.

Tip: getting on the road early is key. Big Sur is very popular and you’ll find the roads and “iconic” viewpoints will fill up with people very early. Depending on where you are coming from, try arriving as the sun starts to rise. You won’t regret it!
