Staying at The Westin Trillium House in Blue Mountain, Ontario

June 23, 2024 No Comments

In late-May 2024, I headed North to the Georgian Bay in Ontario for a quick weekend getaway! While the main point of the trip was to visit Bruce Peninsula National Park (a place that has been on my bucket list for some time!), I decided to pair that trip with a little mountain retreat. The Blue Mountains of Ontario are a small, cozy place for a quick getaway and staying at the Westin was the perfect home base for all of my activities. Here is my experience staying at the Westin Trillium House in Blue Mountain, Ontario!

Location

The Westin Trillium House in Blue Mountain was without a doubt the best place to stay on my trip. The location is absolutely perfect, right on Mill Pond and only a five minute walk from the center of town. It’s by far the largest hotel and resort in town, and you can see it from almost everywhere. There is a boardwalk right in front of the hotel that circles Mill Pond. It would only take about fifteen minutes to walk around the entire thing, and you can pass by things like the famous BLUE sign, the Pond Gardens, and the Blumination Lights. I loved being so close to everything and taking advantage of running back to the hotel for refreshes throughout the day.

Arrival and Parking

Arriving at the hotel was as easy as it gets. There is an entryway roundabout in front of the hotel where I was able to park for a few minutes while I checked in. And what a surprise when my room was ready for me upon arrival – 6 hours early! Such a treat when that happens.

There are two parking options at the Westin Trillium House in Blue Mountain: valet and self-park. Since I was going to be bopping around the area in my car quite a bit, I opted to self-park. The parking garage is incredibly convenient and is attached to the hotel. The entrance to it is located here (on the bend of Gord Canning Drive), just a few yards from the main entrance. You will simply scan your room key to open the doors and put the pass pictured above on your dashboard. There are two main levels of parking, and it’s easy to navigate. There is an elevator that connects the parking levels directly to the hotel floors, so you can go straight from your car to your room every time. Self-parking did cost $22 CAD per day, which is added onto your bill at check-out.

Lobby and Restaurants

There is only one restaurant on the property, Oliver & Bonacini. It’s located adjacent to the lobby and easy to access from there or from the outside doors that are near the pond and town. The prices were steep, and outside of my price range to be honest, so I never actually ate there. However, every time I walked by, it did smell delicious. The menu can be found here and their hours here. There was also a small bar in the lobby, right next to the restaurant. Again, the prices are definitely inflated but that is to be expected at a mountain resort. For me, since the hotel was located so close to town, I instead opted to walk there for my meals.

The Rooms

I was so pleasantly surprised checking into my room at the Westin Trillium House in Blue Mountain! I booked the most basic room available on the site and was very shocked at the size and amenities offered! Upon walking into the room, my eyes immediately went to the far end where there was a huge electric fireplace. While I didn’t need the heat in May, this would be a cozy thing to come back to if visiting in the winter!

There was also a kitchenette complete with a mini fridge, sink, microwave, and basic dishes/cutlery. Had I known this, I might have picked up some basic groceries and had my meals in my room to save some money. I also loved the huge balcony that overlooked the hotel entrance and hills. Unfortunately there was construction going on (as shown above), but if you look past it, the views are still spectacular.

Amenities

While there aren’t a ton of amenities at the Westin Trillium House in Blue Mountain, there is everything you could need. I spent a few hours each day at the beautiful outdoor pool. It’s huge and has many different areas that jet off, which give privacy and space in a big pool. There are also two hot tubs: one near the pool, and one closer to the door when you walk outside. The latter was much bigger and had a small waterfall to really warm up. Even though the weather in May teetered on “pool weather”, the water was heated and was perfect for a dip in the middle of the day.

They also had a sauna and a full gym in the same area. I particularly enjoyed jumping in the sauna for a few minutes after swimming for a really quick way to dry off!

Overall

Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at the Westin Trillium House in Blue Mountain and would absolutely stay there again! The service was great and the staff were very friendly. Above all, I loved the location and the ability to walk into town in only a few minutes. I visited in late-May 2024, which is right before the big summer boom. My room cost about $250 CAD per night, which I felt was a great deal for everything you get! If you’re looking for a mountain getaway in Ontario, I’d highly recommend the Westin Trillium House in Blue Mountain.
